PenPal Mentors

PenPal Mentors

Penpal Mentors for People Struggling with Bullying, Depression, LGBT issues, Loneliness, etc. Or for people who just want a pal.

A penpal mentor's purpose is to cheer you up through snail mail (or email, if you prefer). You can post or submit to the site if you want a mentor. A mentor will send you a letter (including things like pictures, CDs, small dollar store items, etc.) once a week. If you write back to your mentor, he/she will respond as many times as you would like. You can post to our discussion forum at the bottom of this site to connect with other people who are struggling with similar issues. Submit your name, email address, or home address (whichever you prefer) by clicking the mail icon below or by clicking the "Ask" tab above. Your information will not be shared or made public.

Mentors

A mentor’s purpose is to just be there for you. They’ve been through similar struggles, but they are not therapists, so they will not act like it.

Caitlin: She is a recent college graduate who has struggled with depression, loneliness, and LGBT issues. She was in the closet for a few years and went through a period of self-loathing. She thinks that having a pal can make everything more bearable.

Ryan: He has struggled with issues regarding his sexuality and gender identity. He wants to make someone’s day a little brighter through snail mail.

Kate: She is a graduate student who has always been cheered up by letters in her mailbox. She wants to fill up other peoples’ mailboxes.

Joe: He has always wanted a penpal and is happy to share his experiences with others via snail mail.

Katie: “I lost my dad when I was eleven, and showed no emotion. I hit my breaking point at sixteen, and went into a depression until I met my now boyfriend. I now just want to help others struggling through life, and make it better as much as I can!”
